Hola Boys and Girls.  I'm looking for a little advice.  My wife is heavily into the gym, jogging etc and it's her Birthday on 14th April so I thought (being the nice guy that I am) that I'd buy her a Fitbit, fitness tracker, the sad thing is that I know nothing about them.  I've had a smart watch when they first came out, but it was more for messages than any fitness tracking, so I'm at a complete loss.

I've been reading up on various devices, but time is short and I will need to order soon to ensure it arrives in time, so I'm looking for tips, advice, suggestions on what to buy and, if possible, where to buy from.

My wife has an Android phone and won't be changing to another OS anytime soon, so it's got to be compatible with an Android phone.

She's dainty with small wrists, so it can't be HUGE......

I've read that some devices use GPS, not sure how this would work when she's "static" inside a gym?, guessing there's some form of a gyro that'll take over from GPS inside the gym with GPS coming into play when she's jogging??

It'd be great if she could read messages on it, but not essential, and heart beat monitoring would be a plus.

So, with any of this in mind, does anyone have any suggestions??, would a smart watch or dedicated fitness tracker be best??, she also does swimming so being waterproof would be a bonus.

Price wise, I'd like to spend approx £150-ish, but can flex a little.

Please help Folks, it'd make her day if I get this right.

Thanks for any tips, advice or suggestions.

Rich

Hey Rich, take a look on Fitbit.com at the Fitbit Alta (and watch the short film), in size small for £99.00. Got a watch with several faces. With the functionality, only heart rate is missing & not water proof, not many are. You can order from Fitbit direct with free carriage with a 45 day money back guarantee as well.

If she really wanted a smart watch, then check out the Fitbit Blaze at £159.00 which has a colour screen, heart rate monitoring but again, is not waterproof. I had the Blaze first, but prefer the Alta so I can wear my Longines watch on my left wrist and my Alta on my right.

I really like my Alta so please ask any questions & I will help in any way I can...

Hi SKK, many thanks for the reply, the Alta looks ideal, my biggest concern was the size of the device, too large and it'll be collecting dust, so it's essential that this is right before any other features are considered. I did read up on the Fitbit Blaze and disregarded it only because of the size, other than that it looked amazing. I'm guessing the Alta is a comfy wear? Looks like it could be THE ONE.

Thanks for the tips,

Rich
