My three-year-old son's HUDL2 has (seemingly) just given up the ghost and I am potentially looking for a replacement.
It has been used virtually daily for well over 12 months old and has performed quite well.
The only things that used to bug me about it:
* It used to randomly freeze (once every three days, on average) and needed a hard reboot.
* Battery life was acceptable but not great.
* It was full of pre-installed (unremovable) crapware.
* Sometimes, it randomly refused to charge. I would have to hold down the volume up button and power button for 25 seconds and then do the same with just the power button, just to get the charging light to come on.
Anyway, the device ran out of juice completely a few days ago and has been lifeless ever since.
We have not been able to get any charge into it - despite using different cables, checking that the original charger is OK, leaving the device charging for over 24 hours, trying all combos of button combos.
It does seem that it is well and truly gone this time.
I figured that I have nothing to lose by taking the thing apart - I know that you can buy replacement batteries for a tenner, so is it worth trying that or anything else?
If it is not worth the effort trying to fix it, what do you think would be a good replacement?
Any pointers would be much appreciated (the last tablet I bought for myself was an Asus TF300T, so you can see that I am not really up-to-date as to what there is out there, any more). |
