connecting a virgin super hub2 to a nighthawk r8000 using a cat5e cable I am not getting an internet connection.

Are you attempting to use the SH as a "modem only" device? If so, have you placed it into "modem mode."

I don't know the details, but there may be a few hoops to jump through to get NetGear to talk (particularly authenticate) to VM - doubtless others will chime on how to do that.

If not using SH "modem only" and you are trying to use both devices as routers, have a read of the "Using Two Routers Together" FAQ pinned in this forum.
