General Experiences Using Asustor Products?

I recently bought an Asustor AS5304T (aka Nimbustor) based on specs/price. The unit it working well but I don't see a lot information/support for it on the web. Just wondering if there are any general opinions on the brand versus Qnap/Syno.

Asustor is Asus the PC hardware maker NAS division, they are a decent brand, the actual people in Asustor are ex-Synology people who went work for them, thats why the UI of Asustor is so similar to Synologys.

They (Asustor) arent that big in Europe, Synology and Qnap dominate much of the marketplace but the products are comparable.

Are Asustor big anywhere in the world? If they aren't by this point there's a real chance they could pull the plug on the brand. Looking at the number of buyer reviews in the USA (e.g. amazon.com) their sales here seem to be very low also.

As for their products being comparable, I think Asustor generally have the edge on value. For instance, for a media server I compared the AS5304T to the Qnap TS-453be as well as several Synology products (e.g. DS918 ) and the Asustor came out tops for me. However, I see some griping on the Asustor forums that 1st and 3rd party apps are not being maintained. NAS units have become very overloaded in functionality and consumers' expectations of them have risen accordingly. Ongoing support is critical, which is at the root of my (hopefully unfounded) concerns about Asustor. I would worry less if I found a thriving community of owners but we seem to be a very rare breed.
