please move as needed. how would I connect a dvd player and/or recorder with composite a/v connectors to a computer monitor with vga only even if it means disconnecting the monitor from the desktop and moving it to the player? adapter needed? composite a/v in to vga out? simpler cable? capture device using a video app like DEBUT that supports capture device? which I prefer not to. Why composite video output? This is the lowest quality signal, use anything else will look better.

Does the monitor have any other inputs such as DVI? If it does then you can use the HDMI output on the DVD player to DVI on the monitor as both HDMI & DVI are the same video signal.

Otherwise you need some form of hardware video conversion as VGA uses the RGBHV signal which is not compatible with any other type of RGB without conversion.

Mark.

If he mentioned composite, I’d bet the DVD player may not even have hdmi. Although it should have start which might be the better option.
