Acer Z35P vs Asus ROG XG35VQ?

I'm looking to get a new monitor and I have narrowed it down to one of two. The Acer or Asus mentioned above.

I currently own a 1080 Ti and obviously the the Z35P has G-Sync and a 20Hz refresh advantage but the Asus is Freesync and most likely will work with G-Sync now. Freesync would give me the advantage of potentially switching to an AMD card down the line if Navi or Arcturis provide significant gains down the line. This would however be at the cost of 20Hz refresh rate.

They can both currently be had for the same price and if I find out that the Asus does work well with G-Sync, which monitor would people recommend?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bear in mind that you see much less benefit from variable refresh rates at higher framerates, especially as both monitors support BFI which you'd typically use in a 100/120fps situation instead of VRR.

Agreed.  But then at the same time even my Ti will struggle to hold a constant 100/120hz  with all 5 million of those pixels to push at high/ultra.  I really would like to be able to engage VRR on which ever i choose as i really can't stand tearing.
