Hi folks, I'm thinking of the msi radeon RX Vega 56 card .However it's 27cm long, and when I measure this with current radeon r7 360, which is 22cm long, it looks like the vega may not fit or be blocked by the sata ports. My mobo is : M5A97 EVO R2.0.
Is this likely to happen? Also it's a full height card, does this mean it takes up two spaces on the back I/O? The specs also recommended a 650 psu, would my vx corsair 550w suffice  Below is my r7 360  you can see the white sata ports to the right  Thanks in advance.

Sata ports are not normally blocked by the GPU as the motherboard is designed so that the ports near to the GPU come out side on rather than straight up, can’t see anything in your photo so not sure what your motherboard looks like.

The Vega 56 cards are pretty power hungry so 550w might struggle depending what the rest of your system is and under full load.

Full height means the distance from mother board to edge of the GPU and it will be a 2 slot card at least.

Edit: just looked up your motherboard and the sata plugs come out sideways so the GPU shouldn’t block it !

Carlos, thanks for the reply  much appreciated. So probably a new psu also  I don't game, I mainly need this card for the 4k TV, so the HDR, is supported, at present I have to put the monitor settings to 25 hertz to turn it on, but the motion is choppy, even with an active Displayport adapter [email protected] 60.

The vega seems to be a heavy brute, will the brackets be enough to hold it so it doesn't damage the expansion slot?

If you are not gaming then you don’t need a Vega 56 or anything like it, will have a look tomorrow but most modern GPUs should support 4K HDR

Actually read here What graphics card do I need for HDR and what PC games support it?

I had looked at that site, which lead me to the vega, it was the only one that I saw actually advertised HDR support, except the high end cards. As much as it says on that site the cards support HDR, the actual specs from the brands website has no mention of support.

Do you know of cheaper smaller cards that support HDR and 4k at 60 fps?

Sorry not been around much today, I have no personal experience but will see what I can find, maybe someone else will post who has used HDR on a lesser card ?

Worth a shot! If I'm not using it for gaming, do you think the vx550w corsair psu, would suffice? I've been looking around, can't find the actual manufacturer stating HDR, which puts me off. Might just bite the bullet.

To be honest having a quick read I would think most modern cards are supporting HDR for video playback and it’s a bit more specific for HDR gaming.

I think it’s more an issue of does your screen support it and also exactly what you are going to be watching in HDR as there isn’t a lot of HDR Playback support for video on the PC ?

Carlos, the screen supports HDR 10 ,it automatically turns on with kodi, 720,1080,but with a 4k feed it won't. TV through Windows media Centre will only run hdr at 25hertz,same with Web streaming. However the playback is choppy until I switch to 60hertz  but I loose hdr  Can't imagine there's different names for HDR, that gpu manufacturers are using, did you see any cheaper cards that stated hdr? Again many thanks Carlos.
