Hi all,
Can anyone advise on where I should start looking for stability with overclocking my 8700k?
The setup is as follows:
8700k
Gigabyte Z390I ITX Mobo
2 x 8GB Corsair 3200Mhz DDR4 XMP2
EVGA GTX 1080ti
Corsair AX860i PSU
Corsair Obsidian 250D Case
EKWB CPU GPU loop 240mm Rad XRES 100 D5
I followed the tutorial in the link below to achieve what appeared to be a stable 5ghz overclock with a VCore of 1.33v
The problem I am having is while Windows boots fine and the usual set of benchmarks and stress tests within 3DMark run without issue, Prime95 spits the dummy after only a few minutes of running resulting in a BSOD.
I understand that stress tests from the likes of Prime95 aren’t real world scenarios, but I would like to run it for an hour or so test my loop. CPU temps reach the mid to high 60s in the 10 mins Prime gets to run for, but I’d like to see how things fair after an extended test.
The question I have is should I continue to increase my VCore or dial back the multiplier a little? I’m fairly new to the manual overclocking scene so I don’t know how far I should push something before risking damage or calling it a day
Thanks.
