PC Black Screening with a sound loop when gaming

Hey folks, I'm not one to post here normally as I can fix most issues I have with my PC, but this one has stumped me. I have my theories, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar issue.

The issue arises on World of Warcraft, this is the only game I have had the joy of this problem occuring on and I'm a little worried to try anything else. I can be happily killing some boars in the world and all of a sudden my screens will go completely blank and the last note of sound will loop continuously.

I've narrowed the issue down to 1 of 2 things, or both, anything is possible. One of which is the PSU, I'll admit, for the power of my system (See below) I have a weak PSU. Alternatively, it could be my SSD giving up, which I'll be upset about as it's not all that old. I guess it could also be a driver issue, but this seems more unlikely to me as I haven't touched my drivers since installing the card and the issue has only just come up 3-4 weeks in.

I have tried the GPU in my partners system and it runs fine, no crashes in the multiple benchmarks I've ran at 4k (instead of 1080p as that's her native resolution) and I even tried her 1080 ti in my system with no crashes either, which I find odd as the 1080 ti and Vega 56 use similar power draw iirc.

If anyone else has had an issue similar and found out what it was, please let me know as I don't want to spend money I don't really have troubleshooting it.

My system specs are as follows:

Ryzen 1600 @ 4Ghz
Asus Strix Vega 56
4x4GB 2666Mhz Ballistix Ram
MSI X370 Gaming Plus Motherboard
2x120GB SSD
2 HHD's (One 1TB one 1.5TB, both 7200RPM)
Corsair VS550 (the suspected issue)
Coolermaster MasterLiquid Lite 120
NZXT H440

I'd definitely try other games. Issues with a single application can be a problem with that application, having the same issue with lots of programs makes that less likely.

Especially if you haven't updated your drivers, crash fixes for popular games are regularly included.

Does the same thing happen if you go back to stock on the CPU?

The SSD seems unlikely. Drive failures tend to corrupt data so you'd expect a variety of errors (texture loading errors, unlaunchable game etc.)

Thanks for the reply. I'm currently in the process of testing other games so I'll keep my fingers crossed it was just a driver update and nothing more. I do try and keep my drivers up to date, it's easier for nvidia as they give you a pop up about a driver update, not sure if there's a way to enable that on AMD's side, would be nice.

I haven't tried it with stock settings on the CPU, that's gonna be my go to if it continues to crash. A new PSU wouldn't be a bad thing given mine is a good few years old and isn't exactly the best option out there for a Vega 56 system.

I agree with the SSD, very unlikely to die on me without causing other issues, I just have the weirdest and worst luck with these things and wasn't something I was going to look past lol.

There's a good chance this could just be a bad install of World of Warcraft causing issues though, the game has been getting more and more sluggish recently, and with my current system specs I shouldn't have any issues running it at 1080p.
