Hi

Have a Phillips led tv and in mist and skies, I get this banding effect hopefully you can see in the pictures. Is this normal or a fault with the tv?  Thanks for your help!

It's called banding or sometimes gradient banding.

It can be caused from all sorts of things, but it is present in a large amount of source material these days. Particularly lower quality video like a lot of broadcast TV channels.

Might be a setting that can remedy some of it. But I’m not familiar with Phillips TVs, on some it’s called smooth gradation or similar.

This is called Gradient Banding and if you are experiencing this it doesn't mean your TV has issues. If you are seeing too much of it, it could be because
The signal isn't able to carry enough bits (that's why its unable to differentiate between similar colors)Your television processing is adding color banding.Low brightness

No, you don't need any other HDMI cable.
It won't make it any better.

HDMI cables do not alter the picture quality in the same way that USB cables don't alter the quality of photos you transfer with them.

So it’s not the cable then it must be the 4K amp or Apple TV if the banding is not as bad direct from TV..?
