If you have a light with more than one switch (each side of the room, depending on door used) do you need to install a lightwave switch at both locations? Or could you leave one as normal and one as lightwave?

Are you saying you currently have 2 way switching of a light?

From their web site;

How do I wire 2-Way Smart Series dimmers?

Thanks. But that's confused me more! At this stage I just want to know if in a multi switch scenario (one light controlled by two switches on either side of the room, so you can use whichever is closest), all switches must be lightwave.

I’m just try to cost some rooms at this stage, so obviously I could save money and time if it will work with only on lightwave switch per room.

Yes, two LWRF dimmers are required.  But, the light fitting only needs to be connected to one switch.  The other switch needs mains current only.  I imagine you already have triple earth between the switches, and this is also fine to provide live   switched live to the 2nd switch.  The switches then communicate over LightwaveRF's wireless protocol.

Note this is for Gen 2 (Smart) switches only.  Gen 1 works differently.

I’m thinking the OP has two way lighting and only wants to replace one switch with a lightwave, and leave the existing two way switch in place.

Short answer is I don’t know. I would give lightwave technical a ring.

Not yet. I’m getting mixed messages, I think it depends on how your house is wired, but the lightwave documentation online is very confusing. Haven’t had chance to call them yet.

You can’t do this with either Gen 1 or Gen 2. 2 LWRF dimmers will be required, 1 will be controlling the light fitting, the other is just a wireless remote. Gen 1 had a different SKU for this. With Gen 2 it’s simply how many gangs you want.

Confirmed by Lightwave that both switches will be required to function correctly.
