I am just about to purchase a hikvision cctv system.

What I would like to know is, if anyone has any of the following 2 cameras and could offer advice on them as I'm torn between 6mp and 8mp.

IR fixed turret network cameras

DS-2CD2365G1-i      6mp

DS-2CD2385G1-i       8mp

The 8mp is only £20 more and is 4K but is the 6mp one adequate enough, I'm thinking about future proofing.

These are for a normal detached house

Any answers appreciated

I have two Hiks (not the models you’re looking at); one is 8mp and the other 6mp.

You can barely tell any differences when viewing normal footage, but of course when zooming in to the finer details you can see a slight improvement.

If budget allows, do it, if not, it won’t be a deal breaker.

Is there a difference in night performance?

I am about to purchase the 6 mp ones, the dark fighter tech is the important bit.
If you mainly view on iPad or phone you will not see any difference.
I also believe the higher the pixel rate the quicker you fill the HD drive.
