I've installed Hive recently, and shortly after fitted the Hive TRV's.  The TRVs drove me mad initially, and the support team largely don't seem to understand them - which compounds the issue massively and has peeved a lot of people off (me included!) sending them down futile paths.  
However, after cursing them up and down for a couple of weeks the Hive TRVs are actually working really well now, and ultimately I'm very pleased with them.

Despite being repeatedly told the TRVs all needed a software update (and maddeningly every bleeding time they would say they're updating them all remotely, they'd end up only updating a random one - next person would do the same, repeat... ), turns out that was never the issue.

For what its worth; I eventually sussed the crux of the problem (with help from Hive forums).  The TRVs request heating by boosting the main set temp for half hour periods, but by default that boost temp is set to 22degrees.  
The room the main thermostat was in was generally around 22 degrees - So the boiler is being asked to turn on until the thermostat hits 22, the themostat tells it it's already at 22, so it doesn't turn on.  
By increasing that deflault boost temp from 22 to 27, now the living room where the Thermostat lives will never read higher than the boost (in cold weather anyway) and the boiler will always be engaged as wanted.

BTW, to make life difficult, despite describing the issue in detail, not one Hive support member ever suggested this could be the issue, AND it is impossible to access and change that set temp through the Hive app or web interface - can only be done remotely by Hive.

That wasn't the end of the pain either! The TRVs now worked, but they spent just shy of the first 2 weeks continually recalibrating (switching off and then slowly opening up to work out room response) - i.e numerous periods doing their own thing, and not what they were told!

Now that's settled though I've been really pleased with how it's working.  

So when it comes to the Hive TRVs - they can end up working really really well, but it will likely be bleeding painful for a couple of weeks!

I am surprised by your 22deg boost as the default Heat on Demand boost is a massive 32deg
anyway this is OT and as you say the complaints are under discussion on the Hive forum

Believe it or not 22deg is the default for Heat On Demand and not user adjustable as stated by Hive in their support sections, causing a lot of issues that are being wrongly (imho) attributed to software (from all the partial updates I have various firmware versions on my TRVs but all functioning correctly irrespective of software version).... We have veered off topic though as you say, apologies OP, carry on
