iPhone (7 or 8) alternative

I have recently moved all the household over to Android phones and that makes my life easier since I maintain most of them. A certain person has now expressed interest in an iPhone 7 or 8. I cannot explain the reasons why in terms of phone features, functions, etc. Can anyone suggest an Android alternative that might appeal to an aspiring Apple owner?

Xiaomi mi 9 or the Xiaomi mi 9 se if you want a smaller phone, both available with the global software.

To put it simply, there is no Android alternative as it wouldn’t be running iOS. There just is no alternative.

Phone maintenance? Really?
