3 Payg sim for USA travels / Hotspot

Hi,

I'm travelling to Vegas next week and my current provider Vodafone want to chsrge me and my wife £6 a day to use our plan which Wil add up to around £140 should we use our phones.

I've looked around and it seems the logical option is to buy a 3 payg sim for 30 days with 12gb data and unlimited calls/texts for £20. Massive saving.

My question is rather then buy 1 each for me and my wife would it be better to purchase one for 27.50 with 36gb data and use one of the phones as a wifi Hotspot? Would calls still be able to be made via this method? Or would it not work as well? Would the battery drain quicker then normal? It's only a 12.50 saving but every little helps.

Wifi calling is not necessarily free or built into your plan, check the small print.

Yes phone battery will be impacted having tethering switched on 'plus' using the handset at the same time, could just take a portable battery charger if concerned.

Explore ways to cope without internet access, for example download an offline map in advance of flying out. Surely though Vegas will have public wifi somewhere

You can't use tethering in USA only Europe

Just ended up getting a 3 simcard and will use that. Makes more sense.
