There is a sale right now on these two titles (which I've yet to find a decent used price on either) and I'm not sure which to get.  I watched a few videos of Kid Icarus and it actually looks like fun (although I enjoyed the original on NES a LOT) and Fire Emblem looked really really bland and like I am going to have to invest over 100 hours to get anywhere near the finish.

Also, I'm not too keen on the strategy map and gameplay they use... I much prefer Disgaea style.

Which would you get?  I have until Thursday I think to decide.

Both are amazing and very different games.  I LOVED Kid Icarus and put some good time into it.  I reclutantly played Fire Emblem because I picked up the Fire Emblem LE 3DS XL and it was pre-loaded.  I have never looked back.  I completed it in under 25 hours and think it's one of the best games of the last decade by a longshot.  I have even neglected the 3DS Zelda for it.  I'm not a proud owner of the Gamecube, Wii, DS and GBA FE games too.

Pick up both if you can afford it!

I can afford it but I don't have the time for both, now or in the future.  So Fire Emblem can be completed in 25 hours?

It just looked kind of dull in the vids I watched.  Maybe I'm not into strategy games like that anymore.  On the other hand, Kid Icarus looked brilliant.  I haven't bought it up until now because I though that might be lame, but watching vids of it recently really peaked my interest.

You know what, I think I'll buy Kid Icarus tonight and then watch some more vids of Fire Emblem to see if it looks like something I'll enjoy the more I get into it.

Fire Emblem does look bland, but it's battle system is incredible.  I hate the usual FF turn-based system.  I much prefer the game of chess type approach to turn-based battle.

Kid Icarus is a great game, the controlls are slightly clunky but there is probably more of a guarantee you'll enjoy that more.

Both are good in their own right. If you're looking for something quick to blast through then Kid Icarus is definitely the way to go. You can change the difficulty before you start each level so you can probably whizz through the main story in fifteen hours if you scale it down. The only downside is the controls, which are terrible in the on-foot sections (flying sections are an absolute joy though).

Would the Circle Pad Pro make it better?
