PS3 iplayer app HD Bars

Ive started using the iplayer app on my PS3 but when watching shows in HD i get grey bars down the left and right side of the screen - its fine if i switch to SD? Anyone know whats causes this or if there is a fix?

Having problems with our VM TiVo box so I'm having to use the PS3 iPlayer app instead. I also have the issue with bars down the sides of the picture. Anyone any clues as to how to fix this?

I gave up and use iPlayer on either sky, my Apple TV or the Sony bluesy player I replaced the PS3 with

Think I'll use the KODI iPlayer add-on instead, although the KODI add-on isn't particularly wife friendly.
