Good pub food in Soho

I'm heading into town tomorrow and want to get something to eat while  I'm there. Can anyone recommend any decent pubs that do nice food in  (or very close to) Soho?

Coach and Horses just off old compton street has fantastic pub food but its pricey.

French house is okay (same area) but pricey.

If you want a burger try Byron's on Wardour Street but pricey.

For Indian try Masala Zone just off Carnaby Street.

Can't go wrong with "Belgo's" if you head over to covent garden. Reasonably priced lunch as well and a huge range of beers. ( best mussels in London IMO)

There is a not bad mexican opposite Byron's at the bottom of Wardour Street forget the name.

You've got Wagammamas over on lexington street which is always a good stand by and a good place to spot celebs ( jason Statham , Kate Blanchet , Guy Ritchie , Clement Freud ( when alive) , Mark Strong....too many to count)

Tonnes and tonnes of places to eat in soho but I have to say the pub grub is generally pretty useless.

Out of curiosity, how much does a burger cost in London these days?

I think the Byron Burger is about £8-£9 but it is an awesome burger. You can get two Burgers for £10 at GBK.

That's not too bad (if it's good quality). I was expecting it to be a lot more, especially for Central London. In fact, that price doesn't seem much more than what I'd have been paying almost 20yrs ago!!!! I lived out past Ealing, and after the novelty factor of going into London every weekend wore off, we used to say it wasn't worth going into town with anything less than £100 for food, drinks, and transport home. Sounds like I could still do it £100.

Yeah not too crazy and that is City prices.

Drinks are a different story though. The guy I sit next to went to Kensington Roof Gardens last Friday night. Two vodkas and tonic........£44!!!!

If there's a Waggas nearby.....

There's a Wahaca not too far from there. I ate there a couple of weeks ago and thought the food was excellent, very well priced too. Lunch for two came to just under £30 (excluding drinks).


Thanks for the suggestions. Byrons and Belgo's sound interesting.
