Biomass Boiler - Expensive

Hiya, it sounds like your burning a lot of pellets. Maybe get someone to have a look and see whats up.;
We run our house on a 18kw compact red pellet boiler, small three bed 7 rads 1940's ex council and we used just under three ton last year. We do have a log burner that i use with lots of free scavenged wood.
Shop around for pellets, fire power are about £230 a ton I think.
Please don't go to oil its simply not good for the future of planet earth!!

Try reducing your central heating on times? You could maybe knock 3-4 hours of the total daily?

Always heat responsibly no matter what your source of energy.  My home is very well insulted 3 bed house and only requires 1200l/yr in a normal year.  I managed only 1000l this year on account of the mild weather.

I live in the north of Scotland not far from a big pellet factory. All the pellets made there are sent to Ireland/N Ireland to be bagged up prior to being shipped back here so Joe Public can buy them off the forecourts.  Not very eco friendly me thinks!

Hi Just noticed this thread, we've been getting our pellets from Puffin Pellets in Aberdeenshire. They have great customer service, the one time I did try another company I had nothing but running issues. Puffin have actually just posted on the their facebook page regarding their 2016 test results average of 4.9kWh/kg which is way above the 4.6kWh/kg minimum requirement. I'm a great believer in UK manufactured pellets and won't buy any Euro pellets.

I will say though if you call/email them direct you get the best prices, compared to online

Can I ask are they blown or bagged, and what you pay a tonne? Are they also pne of the government approved suppliers?

I take bagged 20kg 1 tonne pallets however they do offer blown deliveries in Scotland.
They have BSL, FSC & ENplus for Delivery & Production.
For a pallet delivered I'm £264.60 but i think it depends on your delivery area and how many pallets you get.
