If it’s 35mm of Kingsoan then that’s something at least. And 75mm of screed is a little thick but not too bad.

Has the wooden flooring been bonded to the screed or is it laid floating on a further insulating layer?

What temperature is you manifold blending valve set to and can you asses the flow and return temperatures going into/out of the floor loops?

It might be the water is too cool or the manifold pump is set too high so you are not getting the heat transfer into the floor. But you also need to check the surface temperature of your engineered timber to ensure it is not getting to hot - most flooring manufacturers suggest the highest temperature for the timber is 28-29 degrees typically.

Hi mate, engineered wood flooring is sitting on top of some very thin red underlay.

I have absolutely no idea what temp the manifold valve has been set to. nor how to assess the flow and return. Is it an easy thing to check? If so, tips please.

I did up my floor temp to about 30 as I didn't think 28 was sufficient enough for my large sitting room. 4 year in and wood seems ok - apart from where the colour is peeling by the garden doors. But I'm quite certain that has nothing to do with the heated floor but to do with the sunlight maybe. The rest of the floor is fine - albeit the colour has faded over the years.

Measuring the temperature is relatively easy if you can get to the manifold. ..Even a clinical thermometer should be ok. ,But bimetallic strip ones are available in most hardware shops. .. just wrap it in alum foil connected to the manifold and read it a hour later. . The temperature going into all the ground loops is the same, the exit temperature about the same, and the flow rates are adjusted by those plastic flowmeter things with the floating ball. .. The file rates in litres /minutes  is the position of the ball.

Yup. I can easily access the manifold. So, I buy a bimetallic strip, wrap it around any of the pipes, then after an hour take the reading?

What should the flow rate be? I'll take a look at this too.

Finally (and can't remember if I've asked this already), when the UFH comes on, would this cause the temperature of the water from the taps to rise? I find that when the UFH comes on, the water from my taps feels a lot hotter! Or am I just being paranoid?!?!?!?!?
