Term-time holiday dad loses court battle over school fine - BBC News
My facebook feed has gone mad on this with several locals saying this is the end of the world and politics gone mad. Several blame holiday companies and teachers citing their strikes and so on a so forth.
Winds me up no end. As a couple with no kids who pay a massive marginal rate of tax, a high percentage of which presumably goes towards the education system which we will see no benefit from going forward. Is it really too much to ask that those with kids accept the choices they made and live with the fact if they want to educate them for free they must make sacrifices and actually send them to school when it is open.
My attitude as a man with no kids and a teacher as a wife who has to live with the same conditions as people is they just need to put up and shut up. If you chose to have kids then deal with the hours. This mans argument his kids have a 90% attendance record is beyond silly. If I was only bothered to turn up for work 9 out of 10 days I'd be sacked.
Surely its only right that if you opt in to free education then you need to do all the hours. Otherwise opt out and pay for it yourself. Why should I have to pay for you to pick and choose. |
