PRO song-writers...... advice on legal and business setup

Hi All,

Need some advice.

As PROFESSIONAL song-writers, how have you set up your company?

How have you formalised your agreement?

eg - writing duo:

everything is 50:50.
There's a company name.
The address and contact details can be one of the writers' addresses?

OR do you set up a specific company (in the uk, for example, through companies house) - with a name, and PO box etc?

Or am I making this too complicated?

My limited opinion is to register with PRS or equivalent. There you can register your original works and set up any splits necessary, such as who gets what in royalties as composer or lyrics etc.
Then you'll have to register with the US tax office as they will deal with your taxes on sales etc globally.
