Yes you could call it more exclusive, it has more in common with a Passat than a Golf but is the only VW branded non SUV to be able to accomodate 20" wheels thanks to the placement of the wheels at the far ends of the chassis. The designers were particularly proud of this as apparently it maintains ride comfort and also creates more space inside the car - which I would agree with. It is more expensive to make than a Golf or a Passat and was the first VW to carry the next generation of active cruise which costs quite a bit on the options list of more expensive vehicles.
It is the highest end MQB car available as competing Audi product is MLB which is longitudinal engine rather than transverse, although both systems borrow from the same MB platform or group of components for their drivetrain. |
