I know this is nothing like the comics.
I was a fan of Iron-Man before the new Iron Man movie came out; but this is a little refreshing to Tony Stark's original origin.
Tony Stark and Rhodey decide to raise an old empire from the ground, which was thought to be lost. But raising this empire creates problems as a tribe of warriors attack Stark's people and capture him and Rhodey.
Stark is hurt and designs a machine to keep him alive and meets a warrior named Li Mei. A relationship is formed and then Iron-Man's enemy arrives Mandarin.
Mandarin needs rings to take corporeal form, so he sends his soldiers of the elements to get the rings. And so Stark designs the suit in order to stop Mandarin.
The film has little stories inter-wined, the character Li Mei seems to be perfect for Tony but you must follow the comics I guess.
The action scenes are quite cool, especially the scene when Iron Man goes one on one with the creature made of stone.
The voice actors portray the characters with emotion and depth.
A good revamp of a hero.
