This is hard to watch and impossible to enjoy.
What's sad is Home Economics didn't have to be a bad show. There are some talented and likable actors in the cast, but charisma simply cannot overcome what is essentially left wing propaganda attempting to masquerade as entertainment.
I don't even mind if creators subtly weave their personal beliefs into their creations, provided those creations can stand on their own, which this abomination does not. Home Economics offers zero humor, a massive amount of cringe, and so much forced diversity it feels like a United Colors of Benneton ad, only far less engaging.
The characters are unrealistic and lack depth, which makes them unlikable. Seriously, halfway through the pilot I wanted them all to shut up and found myself hoping I never meet people this shallow, self-involved, preachy, and annoying in real life.
Basically, if you want to know what this show is like, go on twitter and listen to hypocrites attack one another as they rage about the evils of: white privilege, toxic masculinity, heteronormativity, capitalism, and whatever other events have recently been added to the outrage Olympics. That is this show in a nutshell, just a bunch of random people who do not function or feel like a family, parroting a bunch of contrived nonsense in a desperate, yet ultimately futile, attempt to sound clever and seem morally superior.
In the end, I can't even consider this a sit com because it is completely devoid of humor. Instead, it functions more like some afterschool special produced by a social justice advocate in order to teach us all a lesson nobody asked for or needed.
Perhaps if you like being preached to about the evils of Western civilization, this will speak to you. If, however, you are not a masochist who derives gratification from suffering, this is nothing more than unbearable tripe.
