This was the most moving film I have ever seen.
The death of Tuptim made me cry really hard. It is a deeply emotional film that enters into the depths of friendship and life.
The word that I would use to describe my feelings at the time of the execution is frustrated. I was frustrated for Tuptim and for Anna. Tuptim was innocent - she was in love. Anna was her friend, and she didn't want to see her friend die.
But as the film progresses, she leaves Tuptim behind; she moves on. Chow-Yun Fat excellently portrays the troubled king and father, putting his life at risk for their safety.
I voted this film '10', because frankly, it deserves it. In every aspect. Even the tiny matters like her accent. She had a pristine British accent, and their was no fault in it.
Anna and the King - a great film.
