This is a slightly over-egged dramatisation of the career of the legendary WWII fighter ace Douglas Bader. Starting with his early antics at flying school through to the accident that robbed him of the use of both of his legs; his sheer determination to get back to mobility and his remarkable achievements with/without his "tin legs" that saw him command squadrons in the RAF until shot down relatively early on in the war (1941) when he was incarcerated after many attempted escapes in Colditz Castle. Kenneth More portrays this single-minded individual with aplomb and some humour, and you get a sense (real or not) of the sheer bloody-mindedness of the man. It is told, however, with just a touch too much bravado for me; he is just a little too arrogant and gung-ho and demonstrates that for all he is a team leader, he isn't really a team player.
