Had great potential

This movie had great potential. The prince - as usual - takes an interest in the common girl and pursues her.. It was very refreshing to have the jealous pseudo-girlfriend suddenly turn out to be a cheerleader for the prince and the "commoner" - a big change from the usual formula. Instead of capitalizing on it, it was all downhill from there. Would a world-renown designer set up one-of-a-kind dresses on a rickety clothes hanger directly in front of a chocolate fountain?? Not even close to believable (in case you didn't guess - the dresses are ruined when the dress rack collapses onto the fountain). Then we cut to her designing new dresses in satins and silks while eating greasy pizza? Handling the cloth and sewing right after holding a slice and taking a bite?!? There's no way the fabric would have survived. Would the girl's boss - who had been keeping her dress designing a secret for the past 5 years - suddenly make her a partner? After she'd been taking all the credit for herself all this time?!? Not even close... I agree with another review that said it read like a 6th grader wrote it - or that they needed to wrap it up in a hurry...Because it's not even a Cinderella ending - a dance that starts out as a waltz so the prince can dance with her and kiss her - to have the music suddenly break into rock and roll so she can be "funky" for 30 seconds (and successfully kill any romantic mood) - to then suddenly switch back into a waltz so they can do the "pan out to the crown waltzing around them"?!? Come on! She might as well have just started dancing barefoot in the chocolate fountain... The prince was told early on to forget about the commoner because he's going to be king - and then it ends with everyone stand around smiling approvingly when she starts wildly dancing?!? Especially since she's really not done anything to win them over except fix her own error... Utterly disappointing. The first half was a great watch and great plot- ramping up to be one of the better romances - then it fizzles into a poorly written, completely unbelievable, over-the-top mess that should embarrass even Hallmark.
