I just watched this movie for the first time, and I feel like it is a masterpiece. The way the film works kind of as an anthology looking at the lives of these characters that are close to Yuddy is astonishing. I thought this was going to be a romance film, but I find it more to be a blazing film about loss and loneliness. I think Wong Kar Wai has crafted a masterpiece that is astonishingly photographed, phenomenally acted, and with a screenplay that is poetic in the way that it shows the circle these characters are living. The fact that Yuddy kind of saw his flaws as he was fading away was heartbreaking. No character in this film ended up with somebody, and this is partially because of the destructiveness caused by Yuddy. I give this film a 9.5/10 for being very memorable, lavishly photographed, and demanding of second viewings.

score 10/10
