It's a nice enough movie with this interesting twist of having the most iconic Batman an Superman actors in the same movie, "fighting over a girl". Geena Davis was "just past her prime" here, but, actually well cast for these guys (also just past their prime).
Overall, it's a nice experience. But, it has many problems preventing it from becoming more than "just OK".
There is a big lack of chemistry between Geena Davis and Michael Keaton. Actually, also between her and Christopher Reeve, but, that part is OK, it's kind of the point.
Our "superheroes" have not done a very good job. For Superman, it's kind of expected, he's designed to be this detached workaholic - but, still, not a good job. Batman kind of tries to do the same thing in, well, "The Batman", but, it doesn't work well here. Both are OK, mind you, but, just OK.
It's not very funny either. Yet, it seems it wants to be. Just doesn't succeed.
The script and directing is also quite uneven, jumping from one form of comedy to the other, from one plot theme and pace to another.
Some specific moments are handled poorly. For example, when Geena Davis realizes that she can't stay engaged to Superman (again), there's not enough to be seen to justify that. We're just supposed to take it "as is".
On the plus side, the movie is a lot of fun, these well known and liked actors (such as John McClane's wife and Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters fame) do a decent enough job, and it has a feel of the "80s spilled over into the 90s", which is interesting. There are some nice songs of the period played at certain times, though it could have been much better.
The best feature of the movie is Geena Davis, who's just having the time of her life over Batman and Superman fighting for her (which woman wouldn't?). This might be her best comedic role. Sure, there are other actresses who are better at comedic roles, but, as far as Geena Davis goes, this is as good as it gets - and it's pretty good.
