"The Fastest Gun Alive" is a good example behind the true power of westerns: the conflict between guns and peace... What makes this movie a masterpiece in its own right is that the conflict is this time within one single persona, a man gifted with both the wisdom to wish for a "normal" life and the skill to make a pistol "talk"... Especially the first 30 minutes of the film create great tension as we witness the protagonist being somewhat mocked by the townsmen as "a man without a gun". The monotony he faces as a shop owner leads him very convincably to unmask his true persona as a gunfighter. Though the second half of the movie is somewhat less credible, hence, less entertaining, The Fastest Gun Alive is definitely one of the best westerns to date...
