While this show feature many striking designs, I am bothered by the apparent absence of concern posed to wild bird populations by glass windows. Bird strikes to windows has been ranked among the 3 greatest threats to birds, causing millions of bird kills in the USA alone. Virtually every house featured in this show is located in a natural setting supporting high bird populations. These houses invariably incorporate large expansive glass panels that undoubtedly cause many bird casualties. It would be useful if an episode was produced that addressed the issue of bird strikes and offered methods and designs that minimized bird casualties posed by glass windows. If our species chooses to build homes in natural settings we should do so in ways that minimize our impact on he local ecosystems.
