First of all- that scream? Yikes.
Secondly, I'm not a fan of killing off the wife/mother/etc to create angst and plot advancement, so that's a big chunk off the rating as well because it's an overdone trope.
Third, this was just... Bland. Great cast, and Jared is nice to look at as usual, but the show itself is just boring. Felt like something I've seen a million times already. I'm glad the cheese of the original wasn't there but in its place was... Nothing. I didn't feel emotionally pulled towards any characters, and have no interest in seeing what their future holds. Overall I'd say I don't see a future for the show. Maybe I'm wrong and others will click with it more, perhaps an older audience or one that is more inclined towards southern/ranch/western/cop stuff, but it just isn't for me.
