I only watched the premier episode so far and can see where this ones going. There's parts of Survivor, Oak Island, The X-files, Mysteries at Whatever...it's truly amazing how they'll try to copy the winning aspects of every show out there. Into a gold show.
There's only one problem. We already have shows that find/mine tons of gold! The shows where people run around "trying" to find gold have died quick deaths because unlike Finding Bigfoot, this show is up against shows that HAVE FOUND gold and are profiting from it. So all these searching for gold types of shows have going for them is the mystery of the legend. And that means they don't really want to find gold, they just want to find viewers! Think about it, the show ends if they actually hit a good spot! There would be no more to it.
So every week they'll pursue some "new found" info, like a map, or an article in an old paper, or a guy showing up with information, or symbols carved on rocks, or a few flakes in a pan.
So like Finding Bigfoot and Oak Island these people aren't really trying to find SUBSTANTIAL evidence/gold, they just want to fake finding enough to get you to keep watching.
In the first episode they have the team going down a river full of rapids and outcropping of rocks in a supposedly very remote area. In a regular power boat, not one designed for this kind of water travel! They end up giving up because the rapids got too intense. Here's the problem with this faked scenario.. How did they get the boat back? Helicopter???? No, more likely its just a faked scene in a not so remote area, where they could drive a pickup and trailer right to the boat and pick it up.
Drama? Ohh yeah, a guy blindsiding his entire team in the first episode means they're going to be heaping that on too.
So you've been warned!
It of course got cancelled, and the other 2 "reviewers" of course were fake shills who only joined IMDb and did one thing, Wrote reviews about how this was the greatest TV show on Earth..lol.
