Confused in the U.S.

Hex has just started airing here in the U.S. and so I have watched only the first two episodes, but I got too eager to wait and read the synopsis from each episode (Seaons 1 & 2) and am now very confused and disappointed. I will definitely finish watching Season 1, but unsure if I will tune in to Season 2. Is there anyone out there that has seen more episodes that can help fill in the blanks... or is there just blanks?

WARNING TO READERS... SPOILER AHEAD!!! Why is the main character killed off so early... I thought the show was about her and "Fighting Fate"? Doesn't sound like she fights anything. Does the upcoming episodes tell us why Ester is important and why she was locked in the room. Is there more of a back story about Rachel and why she was driven insane? Why Azazeal waited 250 years for Cassie, but not her mother or some other relative? How could he talk Cassie's mother into sending her to that boarding school before Cassie found he Canari(?) Also, while I love the character of Thelma... why does she eat or even have money for the vending machines.

Shows that are normally winding down often (4 or 5 seasons) end up doing the same old boring routine to increase viewing... someone has a baby or a sister (Angel/Buffy). Why is a baby brought out so early in this show? AND where did the entire second season come from??????
