This was originally an HBO show, but you can catch slightly edited reruns on Bravo, and extremely edited reruns on some local network television stations.  

It's about the fictional Larry Sanders (Garry Shandling) and his late night talk show.  Behind the scenes are the suck-up Artie (played by the hilarious Rip Torn), cranky Paula (Janeane Garafolo), insecure Hank, smart Beverly, and many more.  Each character is quirky and important to the overall show.


There are lots of guest stars on the show, since it emulates a real talk show.  Elvis Costello was by far the best guest star...he was on twice.  The second time Hank bought his car which fell apart shortly thereafter.  That episode made it on TV Guide's list of the top funniest television episodes of all time.

The humor is subtle...there is no slapstick or one-liners.  It's people being people, and that's what makes it so funny!
