Case opening tool

I saw a tech a few years ago opening a mobile phone using a special tool. It looked like a right angled pair of pliers with thin blades at the end. These were inserted in the narrow gap between the case halves. When the pliers were squeezed the blades moved apart cracking the case open. I have searched everywhere but never managed to find a similar tool. I should have asked him at the time. Can anyone identify this tool and who might supply it. Thanks in anticipation.

It sounds like he'd found a new use for circlip pliers (also called snap ring pliers).

Definitely not circlip pliers. They looked similar in shape to those right angled automatic wire strippers. The gap between phone halves is so small these blades must have been side by side, flat ,thin and stubby. I’ll keep hoping someone can help from my description.
