Can Sky be distributed throughout a house with HD Quality
HiMy question is simple but not simple as it seems like a minefield.
My set up is simple a house with three bed rooms,
I have Sky HDX 2 boxes sited on top of one another in cupboard under the stairs.
2 TV's downstairs fed from said boxes with HDMI cables also have coaxal feed which have magic eyes to control boxes.
Upstairs we have 3 TV's which work off coaxal cable with magic eyes and it works.
What I'd like to do is get an hd picture to the upstairs tv's that is controlable with the remotes. I have cat5e to every tv upstairs and downstairs.
also I'd like to have the ability to be able to watch my firestick at all locations together with my apple tv & cctv cameras.
Is there a way of doing this by utilising my existing cables, with switches or some sort of hub?
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Stuch Sounds like you need an HD Base T 4x4 matrix with IR blasters. This: HMXL44-KIT-V2 — Blustream is a 4K version, so a bit of an upgrade path if you need it, but HD versions might be available for less money and as end of line or 2nd hand users.
This will work over Cat5e - although Cat6/7 may be required for reliable 4K. Ideally this wants to be a direct connection with no patch panels and it will not work through switches or a router.
You can control it via a web page or just use the remote - and map the controls to a programmable remote to give you easier control from the remote TVs. It also has bi-directional infra red, so will be able to control your Sky boxes as well. Your main issue will be trying to control the boxes in isolation... Not sure how you will manage that one! I'm not familiar with that specific matrix but it's not uncommon for the IR to be routed to the appropriate IR port, so if one of your zones is using input 1 then IR signals from that zones receiver will be routed to the IR blaster in port 1. It doesn't specifically say it's independently routed IR but there are 4 IR output ports on the matrix so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the case here. Thanks, I'll have to do some research and try and get my head round it. I spoke with my mate who is an electrician but he didnt have a clue. I might need the services of a proffesional, but that could become costly as they know its a niche marketdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 WTF, I didnt understand any of that. I might be getting myself into something beyond my capabilities? Thanks for replying though. Basically, the matrix might route the infra red (Magic Eye) control to the correct Sky box, so your remote control will only activate the sky box you are watching.
@Joe Fernand is your man. He will be able to sell you the right kit and manage installation and setup. Thanks noiseboy I’ll drop him a line
