Spotify request for gadgetry...

My mate and I both have spotify. He is not gadget worldly and so has an avid hate for them. What I'm looking for is a device that would be so basic and yet give him what he would like which is to listen to spotify via an app or basic device that he could plug into his Hifi and spotify on wifi.
Problems are he does not have a tv. This device would need to be simple to use and plugs into hifi.
A 3.5 phone plug is okay...etc...

An Amazon Echo Dot would be ideal, I have one plugged into my Denon amp, control it by Spotify on my phone or tablet and you are set.
