CCTV ADVICE - FAULTY DVR

Hi. Just looking for some quick advice hopefully...

I have a home CCTV system installed (wired and professionally installed) however the DVR has died and therefore they system no longer works and I can’t connect to view on my phone etc.

If I purchase a replacement DVR is it simply just a case of swapping the wires over and it’ll work again? Or is it not as straightforward?

I was hoping it might be quite easy but now I’m wondering if I need to do anything with the ports / router etc (although none of those settings have been changed form the original install)

Any advice appreciated.

Can anyone assist?

It would help others to help you if you gave the brand and model no of your existing DVR.

It’s an ony-x iap-2ahd DVR that I have currently.

I’m basically just looking to see if I purchase a similar DVR and swap the cables into the new one, will it work (I don’t have a monitor - it’s set up to view only from my phone or online) so all the router ports required were set up previously...

Do I need to do anything to the DVR to set it up or will it work outta the box if I replicate the cable system?

Depends how the other one was set up. Often they are setup with QR Code in the menu but otherwise you would need to see the menu on the new machine anyway to see how to set it up on the router/internet.
