It's a toss up between my media pc and my HTC touch HD phone.I think the phone edges it out as it keeps me entertained everywhere i go, not only can you watch films, read e-books, listen to music, browse the web, look at my home DVR cameras, play games you can also, wait for it, make PHONE CALLS.
being a bit of a weather geek, mines my wireless Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station.
i found it very hard to choose the best gadget but i think the best gadget is the one you most use and play with.
For me, its my iphone 3gs, but it would be the ultimate gadget if it was jail broken.

Has to be my Logitech Harmoney 755 remote. It has replaced 7 remotes. At the touch of a button I can pick sky via amp / sky via tv / xbox via amp / etc

Very simple, something I bought in the States called a Driveway Alert.
I live in a rural area and have a driveway about 30 metres long from road to house.
Driveway alert is a battery operated PIR that sits by gate and as soon as someone comes into the drive a reciever in the house chimes.
Easy then to see who is coming and either hide (Jehovas) or be on doorstep to greet (mates).
Works superbly !
