Croatia - Dubrovnik Advice Please
Think my wife and I may have made a mistake.Without going into detail, with barely any research, we have booked a 10 day holiday (Hotel B&B anf Flights) in Dubrovnik in August. Now I hope I am wrong, but I have since been reading that Dubrovnik is actually very expensive, on a par with London or more - helped by it being used for Game of Thrones.
The booking is full payment up-front no refunds, so we have no optio butto make the best of it.
So would appreciate any advice on places to vist, eat etc.that won’t be a rip off.
Cheers,
Nigel It is expensive from what I remember, this was back in 1988 though when I was last there. Wasn’t Yugoslavia and Eastern Bloc back then?
The sort of things I’m reading is that a few years ago entrance to the historic walls was £4 per person, now since the Game of Thrones it is £20 per person. And likewise with all prices.
Cheers,
Nigel It was indeed, but I remember them as very welcoming and incredibly friendly. Flew into Porec and stayed in Pula IIRC I was there about 10 tears ago and I don't remember it being particularly expensive unless you went to the restaurants/bars in the old (walled) town. Certainly not cheap, but not overly priced. I’m going to Split next month & everything I’ve researched is dirt cheap. Under £2 a pint & about £12 for half decent 3 course meal There you go @nheather Split 50/50 Not sure what you mean? That is good news but that is Split which is about 3 hours in the car away.So prices in Dubrovnik could be totally different.
Cheers,
Nigel Don’t worry, it was my feeble attempt at Croatian based humour on ‘split’ting bills 50/50 Depends where you’re from & what you consider expensive, but a quick google suggests Dubrovnik is nowhere near as expensive as London.
Meal for two in mid-range restaurant £40
Pint local beer £3
Bottle imported beer £2.50
Central London is double that in general
