Watch out for snakes. Do not annoy their face with your hand. Don't joke by putting them down your friend's trousers.
Don't pick up the centipedes.
Don't doodle on the King's face on bank notes.
Only hire water sports vehicles & gear etc, maybe even mopeds, from the hotel or really really trustworthy places ( I don't know how that's measured ), NOT rental huts on the beach. If you want to avoid "damage" scams.

I heard about the 'damage scams' too. They would make the tires on scooters a bit too soft so you will easily fall and then they'll charge you a lot for the damage.

Good choice.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Flew with them for my one and only time when i visited Thailand for the first time back in 2010.
Very nice airline. Assuming they're using new planes now, it'll be great.Well as great as an 11 hour flight can be.
I debated for several days on flying direct (LHR) or from Birmingham (local) via Dubai (Emirates).
In the end I opted for Emirates (Nov 3rd) £50 cheaper no going to London so really £100 cheaper) as I have an Emirates air miles account now.
If I fly with them 1/2 times a year for the next decade, I might qualify for an upgrade//static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/facepalm.gifdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Don't really have a fave. Only generally been to BKK, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Pattaya (for the golfdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
I do like BKK though. As far as capital cites go. Just for a few days each visit.Phuket is ok.Too touristy of course but hey ho.Chiang Mai was nice.Scorching hot in April mind (40c ).Lot more laid back than the likes of Phuket and, prettier too.
I'm hoping to get some extended time off work in a year or 2.Maybe spend 2-3 months there when I can travel around a lot more.

Yeah its A380 from LHR to BKK and then it says 737 for the internals in Thailand.
Looking back I got a little excited and rushed booking...
1. I should of considered BHX as well considering its only 2 minutes from my door to the airport.
2. I really want to go to Dubai again and if I'd gone with Emirates I could of tied in a a couple of night stop over on the way back but its all booked and paid for with Thai airways now so I'll stick with that this time!! //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/facepalm.gif

I like the 380. So quiet on take offdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 considering how massive it is.
Prefer it over the Boeings that i've been on.Though, i've not been on a Dreamliner yet.
Always remember the Thai Air Stewardesses. So nice.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7They changed uniforms (one more formal, one more traditional) half way through the flight toodata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

We went to Thailand 2 years ago for the second time.
Stayed in Bangkok for a few days then went to Koh Samui for the remainder of the holiday.
We hired scooters and it was the best thing we did as you get to see so much more of the island.
We stayed at "The outrigger on the beach" a 5 star establishment with private villas with your own pool, it was a stunning place.
