Opening the Olympic park to the public
Unless I have missed something, it is disappointing to see that the Olympic park will not be open to the public for some time. Access to the complete park won't be until Easter 2014.Immediately after the games the park will close and transformed to its future use. As a consequece, parts will open in late 2013, and the rest by Easter 2014.
Consequently no one apart from those who visited the games themselves will ever see the park as it was used for the Olympics as many of the venues will have been dismantled, and the paraphanilia of the Olympics will be long gone.
If that us correct, then I think that is a major opportunity lost. They could have least opened it to the public for a few weeks. I am sure lots of people would have gone just to see it.
Anyone seen anything to the contrary? Hope so, as I would love to go Still time to visit. Afaik its still open for the paralympics. try and get a ticket... More tickets should go on sale next week. No doubt there will be a similar scramble for them too.
But it wasn't really my point, that it is disappointing that the Olympic Park will never be open to the public.Millions of people paid for it to be built, but will never have the opportunity to actually see what they paid for.
The Queen Elizabeth Park will be by 2014, but that is not the same thing. I know what you are saying and I agree with you.It would have been nice to have a wonder round the park before its all dismantled and transformed. I suppose once the Paralympics are over they could have had a couple of months of selling tickets for people to come and see the venues. Sort of a tour? I'd happily pay £20 to have a look round all the venues and the park. It would certainly raise a load of money. That was my thought. Even if they charged the £9 park ticket as they are doing during the Olypmics I am sure they would have lots of takers. It's given me more of an incentive than ever to get anything in the park during the Paralympics. I was one of the very lucky people who went to the Olympics Opening Ceremony, but the park wasn't properly open then so there wasn't really much to see so a park ticket in the upcoming games would be high on my list. Trouble is it is going to be you and a million others.
That said on BBC earlier it was a sell out
