No - I forgot about world athletics as I'm not much interested in them. I really enjoyed London2012 and Paralympics, but thats it for me til Rio. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I know what you mean though. The world cup is the pinnacle of a footballers career, whereas the Olympics will be the pinnacle for many other sports.
But it would be unfair to not allow some sports just because they also have their own equally important tournaments.

It's definitely going to be Mo Farah. Without doubt!

He achieved greatness but also actually has a personality. And he beat the Cube!

It says a lot that the problem is too many great choices.
Murray for me, so much pressure on him, especially the way Tim henman was torn down when he didn't in everything in the past.

What are the criteria for success in this award.

It's called "Sports Personality" of the year. But is it awarded on sporting achievement or personality?Could a sportsman/woman win nothing but take the award based on capturing the public's hearts and imagination?Or could a dull/unpopular person win because they dominated their sport?

You see where I'm going although the example is extreme.Murray has had an incredible year but I still find him as dull as dishwater. Not unpopular maybe, but certainly there's a lot of people who find him dreary.

Mo on the other hand fits both the criteria I listed so IMO it should be him.

I think one of the criteria is to be English to appease the masses

I was, of course, making a mild tongue-firmly-in-cheek comment at people's aversion to Andy Murray when he is no more or less personable than the next man
