BBC News - Sochi Olympics a 'monstrous scam' - Russian oppositionThe estimated staging cost was originally put at $12bn but it could now cost Russia as much as $50bn, more than the cost of all previous (twenty-one) Winter Olympics combined. Or so Putin's political opposites claim. We'll see. Even $12bn is a ridiculous amount; I can't see how they'd ever get that back in tourism etc. Seems like a moneydump to me.
