Anyone do Archery?
After a recent holiday and having a go with a Recurve Bow shooting at a target, I really enjoyed it and seemed to have the knack for it. Very interested in the Compound Bow too.Waiting to hear back from a local club which I hope to visit next weekend
Just wondering if anyone on here partakes in the sport

You absolute nutters. Haha I did it when i was University. Normally clubs have a introduction course which lasts around 6 weeks - expect there to be wait. After this time you can carry on if you wish, expected to purchase your own equipment withing 5/6 months.
I wouldn't recommend getting a compound bow to start or shortly after the course.. i made this mistake, especially when the draw was about 50/60lbs - i struggled with it after about 30mins.
Whilst it can be fun shooting at targets i would recommend seeing if your club does woodland courses too. This involves shooting 3D animal targets at unknown distances and through tress etc... this is where the real fun begins.. mix the indoor and woodland and you'll have a fun, inexpensive hobby (after you've purchased the equipment) Cheers
I've found one club in my area that takes on beginners. Every Saturday, £5 for the afternoon and you can use their equipment if needed which is included in the price. It's an inside hall but it's a start. Once I get confident and good at it, hopefully, then I can venture to clubs that take on experienced archers. There's a few outdoor ones in the area but they don't take on beginners so looks like this is my only route.
I was thinking of getting a recurve bow to start with anyway, I have just purchased an arm guard and finger tab so that's a start. Then later may also purchase a compound. The club I'm going to also runs on a Sunday but only to people with their own equipment so once I get a bow I can then go twice a week when I'm home from offshore.
Really looking forward to it
