NASA photos of moon - Bing images Cheapest option is probably one of those superzoom bridge cameras like the Nikon p900 with an 83x zoom. However, you’ll probably need a tripod as camera shake will be very pronounced at that equivalent focal length. Lens and focal length will be more important than camera. A tripod will be essential as previously stated. Also stacking multiple exposures can give impressive results It’s something like 1200mm equivalent to fill the frame with the moon. At 400mm i find I’m starting to get a decent bit of detail when zooming.
So bare minimum for something new would be £200 ish for a Canon SX620 and a cheap tripod.
Another £70-80 quid would get you one of the cheap bridge cameras with a 40x zoom that would be a better bet though. Can you just stack multiple shots of the same exposure so you're just enhancing detail rather than increasing the DR, or would this not work? Well they need to be different shots data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 but yes that's basically the process though I don't see why you couldn't also try adding some/- shots to also boost the DR.....
Photographing the Moon | Northrup.Photo Did you miss the bit where I wrote multiple images? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
You could, but then the moon has never pushed the boundaries of DR for me data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 And where was that then ? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
