Samsung s9 and reading nikon .NEF files

Evening all,
Just wondering if anyones had a go at viewing nikon NEF files on an s9 (or I guess android) I'm fed up with trying to get snapbridge working and I wonder if I could use an OTG cable and a card reader when I'm out and about. Gave it a go and the files seem to copy fine but there not really sharp guess this is down to the file type and I wondered if there's an app I could use to then edit the files before I just go jpeg. Cheers

I don’t have android but I can do this on the iPhone and then use Lightroom mobile to edit. Do you use LR and if so do you subscribe or have the standalone software?

Are you shooting RAW or JPG RAW?
IIRC there is a small JPG embedded in the RAW for some manufacturers and that might be what your phone is reading rather than processing the full file.

Just RAW

Well my guess is if you shoot JPG RAW you'll get a higher res JPG to play with on your phone.
If you want to edit the NEF file you need another program on your phone ... if there is one.

Possibly found an app call photo mate 3 which seems to read the raw files and looks to make images a lot sharper than using Samsung gallery. Shall do a bit of testing
