It works pretty well, but there are a couple of things that irritate me slightly.... 1) You have to have the Android Wear app running in the background all the time or it simply stops working.
2) You are stuck with the Sony watch faces which are a bit crappy.Any watch faces you've downloaded on Android aren't available on iOS.
Still, its great to have so may options... Android/iOS, silicon, metal etc.
Apple Watch is just too expensive for its locked down nature and lack of choice. I have moved back to Android purely to get the full functionality of the SmartWatch 3, plus the fact I could sell my 6S , take a £100 hit, get a Brand New Phone and Brand New watch and still have change left over.
I just couldn't justify £340 for a watch to use with my iPhone.
The Nexus 5X does everything I need in a phone at less than half the price. It may not have the 'cool factor' but I don't feel the need to have that anymore !! Pretty much what I've done.
However i went with a Sony Xperia Z5 dual sim.
I'm missing imessage a bit, but i'm liking so much more on the flip side.... Notification light, and water resistance being key.
I'm also finding my typing is much quicker and more accurate using the Swipe keyboard built into the Sony flavour of Android.
Sony's ultra stamina mode is also great for hugely extending battery life for calls and texts when you need it.
My pristine iphone 6 plus is now sitting idle.Still cant bring myself to sell it though.... I mean, what if i really need to make a facetime call, or fancy taking a 240fps video?
What is slightly ironic is that the Apple watch has pushed me away from Apple instead of locking me in tighter.
I dont think I'm alone either. Shame. Nail, Hammer, square hit etc !! Great read. Apple user here but the iwatch is making me look elsewhere.
Would somebody with an iPhone and android wear tell me if apps like a golf app would work across the devices? Basically I'm trying to find out if the gps data will show on watch and link shots back to the iPhone?
I'm really thinking of ditching Apple and moving over to android. I like the polished'ness of iOS but I use less apps now and find myself using the browser more on my iPhone6.
I also use Apple Music family but Apple Music is working well on android so that wouldn't mean dropping a service which is good but I'm now looking at chrome cast audio which is another kettle of fish I don't have Android Wear, or play golf, but a quick search shows there are lots of golf apps for iPhone and Apple Watch. As you currently have an iPhone you could buy a Watch and give it a 14 day trial. Personally, I love mine and will be getting the newer model later this year. Thanks for reply
I always try and talk myself out of Apple for some reason, worked on them for the last 20 yrs and my phone, tablet are Apple
Will wait for a deal and then strike. Reviews for v1 haven't been best especially with android wear being half the price but Apple is what it is
